Which Blockchains Are Earning Their Activity?

Compare trading with revenue kept by applications on six blockchains, then check whether growth survives beyond the leading chain.

Charlie’s view. From 2026-09-12 to 2026-09-18, Solana led the matched sample in app revenue. Revenue across 6 chains changed -24.1% versus the preceding 7 days; 2 of 6 chains increased. Ethereum added $1.01m, while Base lost $8.52m in revenue. Those opposing moves explain why the total alone misses the story. Trading and app revenue moved in opposite directions on Ethereum, Arbitrum.

Trading is not the same as revenue.

Both marks show percentage change over the same completed days. The connecting line shows their disagreement, not money moving from trading into revenue.

Who actually kept the money?

App revenue means fees kept by applications or directed to their token holders. App fees also include amounts paid to liquidity providers and other suppliers. Neither tells us net profit.

Take out the leader. What remains?

Charlie’s view. Solana accounts for 54.2% of app revenue in this 6-chain sample, 2026-09-12 to 2026-09-18. Total revenue changed -24.1%; removing Solana leaves $30.38m, changing -32.2% versus the preceding 7 days.

The same covered chains appear in both periods. This is a fixed six-chain comparison, not a claim about the whole blockchain market.

Which app is doing the earning?

Charlie’s view. On Polygon, Polymarket International contributed $3.76m in app revenue. Total app revenue changed +0.5%; without this app, +25.6%.

Eight recent revenue-leading apps are tracked on each chain. Only apps with every required date in both periods qualify here; the largest fully reported app is not necessarily the largest of all apps. This is a concentration check, not proof of causation.

Does a longer history change the answer?

Charlie’s view. Solana: -15.5% over 7 days, but +45.6% over 30 days; BSC: -49.5% over 7 days, but +43.6% over 30 days; Base: -66.9% over 7 days, but +141.8% over 30 days; Arbitrum: -36.4% over 7 days, but +58.6% over 30 days. The short window and the longer one point in different directions.

What would make the conclusion wrong?

Trading can repeat the same money. Revenue can change with fee rules, application mix or token prices. Those changes do not by themselves prove more people arrived or that incentives paid off.

Revenue here belongs to applications or their token holders, not automatically to the chain’s native token. Costs and incentives are not deducted, so this page cannot rank profit, value a token or establish why activity changed.
